Taking a risk sounds scary.
But many people live their whole lives feeling empty, unfulfilled and generally dissatisfied wriskith how life turned out. There are a lot of critical life lessons we never learned in school including:
If you just take what life hands you, you will probably end up pretty darn unhappy.
On the other hand if you design a life plan that encompasses all your hopes and dreams and are willing to take action to make them all come true you will probably end up living an extraordinary life that most people don’t even believe to be possible.
Here’s the thing: taking even just one calculated risk can bring you a huge payoff.
Of the hundreds of entrepreneurs and small business owners I speak with, fear of taking a risk personally and professionally seem to be a big factor in why people settle for less than they deserve.
Fear around pricing what your worth, fear of separating from the herd to follow your true life calling, the fear of a taking a chance on your dream and failing.
Does any of this sound familiar?
The bottom line is that the fear of failure in some way, shape or form paralyzes most people, and keeps all the rewards they could reap just out of reach.
Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals that are on the same journey you are can help you to break through the fear and get into action.
The thing that helped me the most on my journey was finding mentors and coaches to work with that had achieved the level of success and freedom I was striving for in my life. When you work with someone in an intimate way on your dreams the fear begins to vanish and the possibilities begin to emerge. I was lucky to feel supported and encouraged each time I decided to take a risk.
Take a few moments today to revisit what you really want out of life and what you know you deserve.
Remember that the worst thing that can happen if you fail is that things will stay the same. On the other hand, if you do nothing your situation will most likely compound over time thereby worsening whatever is causing you unhappiness in the first place.
Here are a few fast action tips to get into action to overcome fear of risk and realize your dreams:
- Start small. Big dreams boil down to small decisions and intentional action each day. Make a list of small daily actions you can take right now to move in the direction of your dreams.
- Identify a mentor or coach that has accomplished what you want to achieve. Begin studying their business and modeling what has worked for them. Begin a relationship with them if at all possible through a coaching or mentoring program.
- Join a community of like-minded individuals that are taking ACTION! There are online forums, meet-up groups, and professional organizations that cost nothing but will give you the support you need to break through and never look back!
Remember that every day is a new opportunity to be the best you can possibly be. It is up to you to make the most of your journey and soak up everything life has to offer… even if it means taking your first calculated risk.
