If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that building and scaling your business online is essential. If you haven’t done it yet, because it seems daunting or overwhelming, don’t worry! I’ve got three simple steps that will help you make strides, and more importantly, begin seeing some serious cash flow by building your business, ONLINE.
Step 1: Come up with your Mission for the Company
Ask yourself, what is the point of my company?
What do you want your business to be in the world?
It’s important to come up with something that isn’t monetary (we’ll get to that later) and speak to what your business can do for your customers, your family, and the world.
Once you’re clear on that idea, you can then begin to set your goal.
What is the endgame for your business?
If you could wish on a star and make everything you want for your business a reality, what would that look like?
This is where you can map things out from the monetary to the legacy. Include it all.
Once you have that all mapped out, you can begin to reverse engineer your goals, breaking it down year by year and coming up with detailed action steps on how you’re going to get there.
Step 2: Take a look at the Competition
Before you dive in, you want to be aware of what’s going on in your market, but not fixated on it.
Believe it or not, having competition is actually a good sign.
Why?
It shows proof of concept, and is a reassurance that there is money to be made in what you’re trying to do.
Don’t get me wrong, there will be times when you will be pioneering a new idea or industry, but don’t feel like that’s what you HAVE to do to be successful.
Competition means success is possible, there’s an audience that wants what you have to offer, and now you just need to focus on finding the gap and becoming the best option out there!
Step 3: Test the Market
As a business owner, your resources are often limited, so don’t waste time, energy and money creating something without social proof.
Luckily in the 21st century, finding people willing to share their opinions isn’t a difficult task. This is where you’ll need to utilize social media.
If you’re a product based business, create a prototype.
If you’re a service based business, create your programs.
Then, leverage your social media!
You can do something as simple as creating a poll on facebook, or asking for feedback in the comments section.
Once you’ve gathered enough data and know your creation is a winner, get a website, domain, trademark, and copyright, to protect yourself and your ideas as you grow.
Building and scaling your business online can make the difference, not only for its longevity in an increasingly digital world, but for its survival during unforeseen circumstances. By utilizing these three tips, you’re bringing yourself closer to the life of your dreams!
