I have been getting a lot of questions from members of my community ever since I announced the upcoming launch of my new podcast. Why am I starting a podcast? Why now?
Yes, it’s true there are lots of new bright and shiny objects on the market to chase that claim to be the latest and greatest thing in marketing.
I am a late adapter with everything–intentionally.
I don’t teach anything that I am not already doing and profiting from. I am certainly not going to commit to doing anything in my business that is not time tested, proven and sustainable.
For those of you who are not already raving podcast fans or have not previously listened to one, a podcast is simply an on-demand radio show. If you have a smart phone, there is an app right on the home screen where you can access iTunes and all the incredible podcasts that are available 24/7, absolutely free.
What I love about the idea of a podcast is that you can listen to one while you are exercising, driving or even working, which for me is critical. I don’t have time to sit and watch a 45 minute interview or TV show, but I can certainly listen to an audio while doing other things and still absorb incredible information, inspiration and education to help me achieve my goals.
After being a guest on a multitude of other individual’s podcasts and consistently getting clients and speaking opportunities from these appearances, I realized it was time to bring my special gifts to the world in a bigger way on my own show. For me, it’s about connecting more deeply with my audience, and of course growing my business.
For those of you considering podcasting for your own business here are a few facts to consider:
- 1 in 4 podcast consumers plug MP3 players or smart phones into their car nearly every day! (Kapost)
- Apple has surpassed 1 billion subscriptions for podcasts via iTunes (Kapost)
- Podcasts have been well established for listenership on desktops and mobile devices for years, but almost every new car produced will house Apple Carplay or Android Auto (Forbes)
For you, as a business owner, this is a great way to build your platform and audience for the following reasons:
- Podcasts are mobile
- On demand
- Low barrier to entry
- Global
- Easy to use as fuel to monetize other business ventures (Forbes)
Starting a podcast could be the next great way to reach your audience.
